In general, no. All stone is porous to various extents, but granite exhibits little porosity. Most colors will never show any moisture, while a few colors may show some moisture if exposed for a period of time. Our granite has a sealer applied at the job site after installation to help to protect against staining.
Samples are given to represent the colors present in the granite slab, however they only represent a small portion of the stone. Keep in mind that natural stone is a product of nature so every piece is unique. We recommend viewing the slab or slabs that you are using on your project to prevent any problems after fabrication or installation.
Your seams will be noticeable. With this, we use an epoxy material to color match the stone with the seam so that it blends with the two adjoining counter tops. Please see our Photo Gallery for examples of seams.
Bella Stone Designs offers a full line of stainless steel sinks and porcelain under mount bowls for vanities, as well as a full line of Blanco granite composite sinks.
Provide us with a drawing or layout of your kitchen counter tops. Please list all important information such as granite color, edge profile, back splash location and size, sink cut out needed, cook top cut out if needed, if removal of existing tops are needed and cabinet company or contractor that is supervising your project. Simply fax or email the drawing and a quote will be returned within 24 hours.
We can in most circumstances have your counter tops templated or measured within 48 hours from when you set up the appointment.
According to the Marble Institute of America, natural stone can be cantilevered up to nine inches without support. If more than nine inches is cantilevered, corbels or supports must be use to ensure the stone does not break due to excess weight.
Most of our projects are quoted on a per square foot basis so any remnants from the slabs used for your project are the inventory of Bella Stone Designs.
When you accept our quotation, a 50% deposit is required to schedule a template appointment. The remaining 50% payment is required at time of installation. We accept cash, check or credit card payments.
We will template with your existing counter tops in place so your kitchen is not left in disarray for an extended time. If you choose, we can quote the removal of your existing counter tops and remove them the day of your granite installation.
We do not install appliances or connect plumbing. We can provide you with a certified electric or plumbing contractor to take care of those needs. We attach all under mount sinks to the natural stone, cut out counter tops to prepare for the appliances to be installed, and drill all holes for plumbing.
Marble is a beautiful and excellent choice for any design project, exhibiting classic veining and patterns that cannot be found in other natural stones. However, marble requires a bit more care than other natural stones or engineered quartz. It is softer and more porous, and therefore etches and stain more easily than other stones. As long as all abrasive substances are kept away and the marble is cleaned and re-sealed often, this functional stone will provide years of beauty and uniqueness to your project.
We fabricate and install granite, marble, travertine, limestone, onyx, soapstone, various engineered quartz lines, and terrazzo countertops.
Natural stone is one of the most durable, green materials on the market. Not only does it last for decades (or even centuries), it is 100% recyclable after use. For more information regarding the sustainable qualities of stone, visit this Marble Institute of America page.
Stone is buffed and polished in the shop, and will remain polished unless etched by chemicals. Stone is porous, so any substance left on it for an extended amount of time will soak in. Any extremely alkaline or acidic substances can etch stone, which will dull the polish. Sealing the stone will help prevent the dulling of the polish by repelling these chemicals from settling into the stone. However, if the stone is already etched, sealing it will not restore the shine. Only re-polishing by a stone fabricator can restore the shine of the top.
